Have you ever wondered what would happen if you actually followed all the writing advice you’ve ever heard?
Would it all add up to an amazing novel that would launch you to the top of the bestseller lists and win all the awards?
Or would you find yourself in a puddle of tears in the corner of the library at 5 a.m., wondering how you could possibly call yourself a writer?
Well, wonder no longer, because I’ve taken it upon myself to embark on a journey called the Writing Rules Project. Using classic advice and modern tips, I’m going to write a novel. I’m going to find out what happens if you follow all the rules, go through the motions, listen to the advice.
In short, I’m going to write a book, by the book.
I’m going to be honest. I’ll try everything, and I’ll explain what works for me and what doesn’t.
And hopefully, we’ll get a halfway-decent story out of it.
