Kamryn Hellman is a writer, chess player, and video creator. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English and Communication from University of Mary in Bismarck, ND, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Creative Writing and Literature through Harvard Extension School.
Her journey in the chess world began in early 2021, and she reached a rating of 2000 on Chess.com less than two years later (Feb. 2023), putting her in the 99.8th percentile of players on the site. She creates chess content on YouTube aimed at beginner and intermediate players and is a Chess.com affiliated streamer and Chessable author. She is also involved in her local chess community, coaching beginner students and competing in tournaments.
Kamryn’s writing has been published most recently in Chess Life and the Chessable blog. In creative writing, she has a primary focus on contemporary fiction, especially middle grade.
